You more than likely will have come across the term ‘shortfill’ – but what does it mean?

What exactly are shortfill e-liquids?
Shortfill e-liquids are large bottles of nicotine-free e-juice that have enough space for an optional nicotine shot, and they’re usually found as 50ml of e-liquid in a 60ml bottle – hence the name ‘shortfill’.
They were first introduced to the market in 2017 following the implementation of the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD).
Before the new laws, you were able to purchase larger bottles of e-liquid that contained nicotine. However, the TPD restricts any e-liquids containing nicotine to a maximum size of 10ml.
As a result, shortfills were created as a way to keep the convenience and cost savings of bigger bottles while staying compliant with the TPD regulations.
How do shortfill e-liquids work?
Using and mixing your shortfill e-liquid is foolproof.
Once you receive it, take the nib off of the bottle, pour the nicotine shot in and replace the nib.
Shake for 30 seconds, then you’re ready to fill up your tank, it’s that simple!
Why should I use them?
There are so many ways you can benefit from using a shortfill e-liquid:
- You can save money
Generally, the cost of one 50ml shortfill e-liquid bottle and a 10ml nicotine shot is much cheaper than buying a couple of separate 10ml e-juices.
- You have more control
When you use a shortfill, you have much more control over the nicotine strength of your e-liquid, seeing as you have the space to add as much (up to 10ml) or as little of your nicotine shot as you desire.
- They’re quick and easy to mix yourself
Is a shortfill e-liquid right for me?
Admittedly, they aren’t for everyone. If you’re looking for a quick fix it’s probably best you go for a pre-mixed e-juice so you can get to vaping your favourite flavours and preferred nicotine strengths right away.
However, if you’re looking to let your creativity roam free whilst you save yourself some money at the same time – then a shortfill e-liquid will be perfect for you.
