Vaping has never been as popular as it is in 2021. With the current Coronavirus pandemic still impacting the health of millions all over the world, the numbers of people looking to quit smoking is at an all-time high.
In fact, this isn’t a new trend. The anti-smoking charity Action on Smoking and Health reports that in the UK alone, the numbers of vapers have increased from just 700,000 in 2012 to a massive 3.6 million in 2019. And, what’s more – of these, 54% have stopped smoking cigarettes all together.
With figures like that, it comes as no surprise that the number of vape devices on the market has also risen.
But what are they and how do they differ?
It’s no secret that the terminology surrounding the vaping industry is confusing. But one of the most regular questions we get is about the differences between e-cigarettes and vaporisers. The two terms are so often used interchangeably that we can appreciate why so many are unsure if the two differ, and what those differences are.
So, if you’re unsure which is which and what will help you to quit smoking, keep reading!
What is an e-cigarette?
E-cigs, or “cigalikes” were the first devices of this kind to hit the market around 2003, taking their name from their appearance. Designed to look and feel like a traditional cigarette, e-cigs started off small, thin and often disposable. With the ability to recharge the batteries soon coming after, it goes without saying that they went down a storm, starting off in China, and soon making their way into other countries such as the UK and America.
E-cigarettes don’t use a tank, so there is no need to fill your own e-liquid as they rely on disposable e-liquid cartridges. The battery can either be rechargeable or disposable too, and to use it, all you need to do is press the power button and inhale. This incredibly simple setup is what makes them so appealing to beginners who are strictly using the device to improve their smoking habits. They’re cheap, easy to use and commitment-free.
What is a vaporiser?
Unlike e-cigarettes which can be disposable or rechargeable, vaporisers combine rechargeable modules with interchangeable elements such as e-liquids and tanks. Vaporisers are certainly more customisable than e-cigs, but they don’t have to be complicated, and you can even opt for a vape that uses pre-filled cartridges if you don’t want to bother with different individual e-liquids.
Perhaps one of the main differences between e-cigs and vaporisers is how they look and feel, as they are larger and don’t really mimic the traditional cigarette in the way that an e-cig does.
So, which is right for you?
Whether you opt for an e-cig or a vaporiser is an entirely personal choice, and both can offer the same benefits if you’re looking to quit smoking for good. The good news is that here at Cloudstix, we stock both e-cigs and vaporisers, so whatever your preferences are – we can help!
